When conducting a search that contains certain symbols, such as dollar signs, you may find that many of the search results are documents that contain only a portion of your keyword or phrase. These unexpected results are caused by the search analyzer treating some symbols and special characters as whitespace.
For example, a keyword search for $100 will return full matches that include $100 and partial matches that only include a dollar sign symbol or the number 100. This happens because symbols are broken into separate search tokens by our search analyzer. Documents with both tokens (a dollar sign and the number 100) are considered more relevant and appear higher up in the results list, but individual tokens such as the dollar sign and the number 100 are still highlighted.
To work around keyword limitations, you can use an advanced search option to force the search analyzer to look for an exact phrase instead. Conduct a phrase search by wrapping your search terms in quotation marks (for example, "$100"). The quotation marks tell the application to only return results containing all of the terms present in the phrase.
